Miami's newest specialty beer and wine lounge "The Goose" - Coconut Grove’s Beer & Wine Lounge

Miami's newest specialty beer and wine lounge is now opened just next to the Coco Walk in Coconut Grove. The Goose will feature a rotating beer menu and an astounding wine list by the glass. This Neighborhood hang out will cater to those wanting to drink unique micro brews and taste wines from all over the world at a great price.

Coconut Grove's Newest Watering Hole

This article was written by David Minsky for Short Order | The Miami New Times Food Blog

Now here’s a place where the worlds of booze-pounding college apes and hot moms converge: The Goose Lounge, a new bar that will feature a rotating microbrew and wine menu, just opened in Coconut Grove.

The beer menu has 60+ microbrews from all over the world, as well as 12 beers on tap including Bell’s Oberon Ale and Stone Ruination IPA.

Some of the bottles on the beer menu are Wells Banana Bread Ale, Belhaven Scottish Ale, Hazed and Infused, and some (semi)local favorites like Cigar City Guava Grove and Swamp Ape IPA.
The wine, which is sold by the glass, is a rotating list of six red and six white wines imported from Argentina, Chile, New Zealand and South Africa.

Oh yeah, don’t forget about rice wine: sake. Stand by for sake-slinging madness straight up or as a mixer.

Saturday’s grand opening party also features some music put on by Deep Roots with Jean P Jam, but The Goose will host live bands every Thursday and Friday, and even hosting aspiring musicians for open-mic Monday.

On the outside, The Goose blends into the backdrop of the Grove commercial sector. The inside: purple ceiling ducts and decorated olive green walls with murals that resemble Basquiat paintings (that’s a good thing), a long wooden bar, a makeshift stage and a pool table buried in the back corner.
Tapas like yuca fries, ceviche, pulled pork sliders and meat n’ cheese platters will be served to satisfy the urge to forage.

Soyka, The Restaurant & Lounge "In The Heart of Miami"

Soyka, The Restaurant & Lounge, opened its doors to a doubting public in the spring of 1999. Mr. Soyka originally purchased the building to house his vintage car collection, never dreaming of opening yet another restaurant or cafe.  But before all of the cars had even found their way to new homes, Mark decided to open his namesake restaurant.

With nothing in the area that catered to the locals and the VIP of the business and government community downtown, Soyka was packed the day it opened it’s doors and remains so to this very day, with the most unique, casual ambiance and comfort dinning, in all of Miami, that bring guests back to dine with us several times a week….truly making it their dinning room away from home.

Set away from the main dining room, the Gardens are ideal for special occasions, private parties and banquets, with options of seating from 10-200 people.  You can also order your Soyka TO GO to enjoy at home or in the office, by looking at our Menu online and then calling it in.  Soyka's new Happy Hour is from 3-7pm Monday through Friday with $3 Beers and House Wines and $5 Premium Well drinks. Soyka is an incomparable experience of "Comfort Dinning" and we hope to see you soon!

Eden South Beach "Sip, Taste, Drink, Discover The Garden of Eden"

Eden South Beach is a sensuous experience of food, drink, nightlife and culture, featuring Seasonal Cuisine by renowned Chef Christopher Lee.

With one-of-a-kind settings, featuring the candle lit "Garden of Eden," an intimate outdoor lounge and an airy dining room with an open-theater kitchen; Eden South Beach has the perfect combination to See and Be Seen.

Originally from New York and currently a Miami Beach resident, owner Larry Rizzo developed this multi-scene concept and is present nightly to welcome guests to the Eden experience. The Garden of Eden also provides for a lounge setting, with live music, perfect for social hours or after dinner cocktails. But there is more to the Garden of Eden that meets the eye, each specialty cocktail and entrée, is infused by an array of fresh herbs and forbidden fruits handpicked from the Garden.SIP. TASTE. DRINK. DISCOVER- SAVOUR THE GARDEN OF EDEN

Chef Christopher Lee began his career at age 14 in his hometown on Long Island, "I always had that sort of sixth sense about food," Lee says. "I always knew that I wanted to be a Chef. In high school, I used to ditch classes just to watch cooking shows on TV."

Lee Graduated from the prestigious California Culinary Academy and then went on to hone his culinary talents in some of the country's most prestigious restaurants, including New York City's Restaurant Daniel and Jean Georges, and San Francisco's Fifth Floor.  As Sous Chef at New York's Oceana, where he worked under Cornelius Gallagher, Lee was integral in redefining the restaurant's approach to the elegant dining experience. Awarded three stars by the New York Times, the New York Post proclaimed Oceana to be "The city's best seafood restaurant."

Selected by Gotham Bar and Grill's Alfred Portale to be the chef de cuisine at Stephen Starr's remake of the legendary Striped Bass in Philadelphia, Lee quickly rose to the position of Executive Chef, putting his personal style on all culinary aspects of the restaurant. Under his direction, Striped Bass received widespread critical acclaim, including a highly coveted Four Bells review from the Philadelphia Inquirer, "Best New American Restaurant 2004" in Travel + Leisure, and Gourmet selected it as one of the country's top restaurants in 2006.

In 2005, Lee was named the James Beard Foundations' "Rising Star Chef of the Year," and in 2006 was among Food and Wine's "Top Ten Best New Chefs." Returning to New York as Executive Chef of Gilt, Lee earned the restaurant two Michelin stars. In December 2008, Lee was selected by Charlie Palmer to take command of Aureole's kitchen, just in time for the restaurant's spring landmark move to the Bank of America Tower at One Bryant Park. "Christopher Lee could not be a better fit for Aureole with his modern American palate, New York roots and bold approach to flavors and wine," says Palmer.

Since the grand opening, Chef Lee has brought unparalleled success to Aureole including a 29 food rating in Zagat, the highest in NYC for 2009. Additionally, Chef Lee was a contestant on the premiere season of Bravo's Top Chef Masters and is currently the consulting chef for Orange County Choppers Roadhouse, a full service restaurant, bar, microbrewery, and entertainment experience based on the extraordinarily popular Orange County Choppers brand.

Philosophy, In addition to the following the seasons and the latest culinary trends, Lee finds inspiration in abstract art, which is evident in his plating techniques. Rather than building presentations in the center of the plate, Lee prefers to use the lines, spaces, colors and shapes of the various components of a dish to create a new abstract dining aesthetic. Through juxtaposing soft and crunchy textures, and sweet and sour flavors, Lee's creations give diners a different experience with each bite.

Town Kitchen & Bar

Courtesy of Town Kitchen & Bar, South Miami

Serving Global Comfort Foods with updated steakhouse appeal. Entree salads, hot sandwiches, homemade soups, fresh baked breads, and brick oven pizzas are just some of our features. Our "triple grind" burger and parmesan-truffle fries are a must!

What the Miami New Times Says:  it's ideal for an early afternoon drink-up on the weekend. By early evening it's a classy, trendy, minimalist restaurant that specializes in "global comfort food" like brick oven pizzas and yummy parmesan-truffle fries. By night it's bumpin', with crowds of trendy 20- and 30-somethings, clutching martini glasses as they spill out into the street. The food is delicious — just try the grilled Caribbean jerk churrasco steak salad, it's $15 and to die for — but we keep going back for the cocktails. Town's got a classy clientele and a wide variety of actually delicious martinis, and a big beer menu that includes Chimay and other exotic ales. Try the Towntini — a swirl of Absolut Mandarin Vodka, Cointreau, pineapple juice, cranberry juice, and a mandarin orange garnish for $10. You'll feel like you've been transported to an elegant hotel on Collins Avenue, even though the glowing sign of Sunset Place hangs in the near distance.

Elizabeth Stewart @ Miami.com comments.  While Town Kitchen & Bar has been known for its popular, and tasty, American cuisine – especially its weekend brunches - the South Miami spot has more than just eggs over easy to entice a weekly visit. Tucked in a quiet corner behind Sunset Place, the casual crowd pleaser offers a lively, and cost effective (for the ladies, anyway) Thursday night scene.

Some happy hours make you run out the door before your computer shuts down, but Town’s Thursday night specials have zero time limit. Ladies receive half off everything on the menu all night. Choices are endless, including an extensive list of signature cocktails and martinis, wines, and beer. And for those ladies feeling particularly ambitious, arrive between 4-7 p.m. for complimentary champagne.

The crowd and the music are largely determined by whether you decide to drink inside, or al fresco. Inside offers more of a nightlife vibe, pumping a Top 40 selection including anything from Shakira to Ricky Martin (hey, it is South Miami afterall). With plenty of high-and-low-top tables available in the trendy but intimate space, the primarily 30s-plus crowd tends to swarm around the bar. The average Town goer may still even be in their scrubs or loosening his necktie at the end of a long workday. Another perk of sitting near the bar (besides the obvious drink proximity) is this is the only place where all appetizers are also half off.

Outside is equipped with additional couches and tables, and is more for the laid back customer or perhaps a family or two there for dinner. Although you can still hear a faded Ricky Martin song playing in the background, this is the area to sit if you are there for less head bobbing, and more hob-knobbing. And while appetizers out here are full price, waiters keep the half-priced drinks flowing.
